Check your passport
You must have at least 6 months until your passport expiry date at the time you want to ENTER Indonesia.
Make sure there are no tears, water damage or pen marks on important data.
Every Foreigner Requires a Visa
Even Babies require a visa.
Visa on Arrival (VOA) allows a 30-day stay and is available for citizens of 97 countries. The cost is 500,000 IDR when paid directly to immigration.
You can purchase yourself online before you enter the country or at the airport.
Can be purchased online up to 90 days prior to entry into Bali


Return Ticket
it is a requirement to have a ticket out of Indonesia. It does not need to be return to your home country.
The exit date on your ticket should be before your visa expires or your airline may not let you board the plane.
Customs Declaration
You must fill in your customs declaration before going through the customs line. It is no longer available in paper form.
It's all online now and can be done within 72 hours before departure. You can still do it at the airport upon arrival but prepare for a long wait as it must be done on a computer at the airport.

Bali Tourism Levy
If you are entering Bali it is mandatory to pay the 150,000 IDR tourism levy.
It can be done online before you come or at the airport. The airport desk is located at arrivals, out where the drivers wait to collect their guests.
It is no longer a requirement to obtain travel insurance

Note: you will need to upload pdfs of your ticket and passport if you use this method. There is now an easier way:

then you only need to scan your passport on your phone.
The link is only for the 30 day visa (VOA) available to 97 countries.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
Open the link in a new browser, don't open via links from Facebook groups or your payment will come up failed (although it will have gone through)
If you don't receive an email with your visa, you can go in and check for your visa, use this link to check https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/find-batch.
Your place of birth may not appear on your e-Visa PDF, but don't worry you can still enter.

If you obtain your visa beforehand you won't need to line up for immigration, your visa is attached to your passport.

Summary of Current International Entry Regulations
AllIndonesia Arrival Card
Alllindonesia Arrival Card for all incoming passengers to Bali (foreigners and locals) effective 1 September 2025. This new system replaces the SSHP and Customs Declaration. Can be done within 72 hours of arrival in Bali, and if less than 72 hours can be used to apply for the VOA if needed.
All Visa Extensions Now Require an Immigration Visit
Indonesia's hybrid visa system, effective on May 29, 2025, as per Circular Letter No. IMI 417 GR 1/1/205 issued by the Directorate General of Immigration. Requires online application for extension follow by in-person biometric verification (fingerprints and photos).
Governor of Bali's Do's and Don'ts for Foreign Tourists
BALI DO’s AND DON’T’s Deportable offenses effective 24 March, 2025. Circular Letter Number: SE No 7 of 2025 concerning misbehaving tourists in Bali. The Governor of Bali’s Do’s and dont's list has now been upgraded to add deportation for offenses.
Indonesian Health Declaration
INTERNATIONAL ENTRY HEALTH PASS effective 29 August, 2024 2024. Circular Letter Number: SE 5 DJPU of 2024 concerning the Use of SATUSEHAT Health Pass for Foreign Travelers, on 27/8/2024. NOTE: There is no fee, and should be filled in just prior to landing in Indonesia (no more than 3 days prior) - now replaced with the AllIndonesia declaration as of 1 September 2025
Bali Tourist Levy
INTERNATIONAL TOURISM LEVY of 150,000 for foreign tourists entering Bali effective 14 February 2024. Bali Governor Regulation Number 6 of 2023 and Law Number 15 of 2023 concerning the Province of Bali. Payable before you come on LoveBali App, or at Bali airport using a credit card (no cash payments). NOTE: This is not a Visa and does not replace the VOA. It is only applicable for entering Bali, not other areas in Indonesia
International Entry/Domestic Travel
VACCINATION REQUIREMENT as at 10 June 2023 No. SE/00082/PK/06/2023/64 from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia states that it is no longer a requirement to show proof of vaccination.
Satusehat App download - no longer required
No. SE/00082/PK/06/2023/64 from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia states that it is no longer a requirement to download the SATUSEHAT Application.
Health Regulations
Effective, 31st December 2022, under Presidential Regulation Nomor 53 Tahun 2022 regarding Community Activity. Restrictions have been lifted. Restaurants no longer have restrictions on opening hours or capacity.
COVID COVER Insurance - no longer required
SATUAN TUGAS PENANGANAN COVID-19 ADDENDUM SURAT EDARAN NOMOR 19 TAHUN 2022, dated 8 June has removed the proof of ownership of health insurance which includes financing for handling COVID-19 and medical evacuation to a referral hospital with a minimum coverage value.
PCR Test - no longer required to enter Indonesia
Circular Letter Number 19 of 2022 dated 18 May 2022 now states that there is no PCR test required to enter Indonesia. This has not changed in latest Circular Letter Number 25 of 2022 dated 1 September 2022
Hotel Booking
No hotel booking is required for fully vaccinated travellers...Since Regulation Number 17 (SE Nomor 17), The latest Regulation is SE Nomor 19. Remains the same Circular Letter Number 25 of 2022 dated 1 September 2022
New Criminal Code - Sex Before Marriage
Under the new laws, which will take up to 3 years for transition to the new Criminal Code, a family member of the Indonesian involved must make a formal complaint.
PCR Testing in Bali
As of 6 April 2022, a PCR test is no longer needed upon arrival in Bali for fully vacinnated tourists. A test will only be conducted at the tourists' expense if their temperature check reads more than 37.5 degrees. Remains the same as at Circular Letter Number 25 of 2022 dated 1 September 2022
Overstay
Please be aware that the fee for overstaying your visa is 1 million rupiah per day. Immigration count the date of arrival as day 1.
