BIKES
Q: Do you have tandum bikes?
A: No; part of our ride is off road and we walk them through small lanes with tight corners, tandum bikes are not suitable for those conditions.
Q: Do you supply child seats?
A: No, again, as part of our ride is off road child seats are not suitable.
Q: Is the ride hard?
A: No, it is not a hard ride, in fact in total you only ride 5 kms over the afternoon with frequent stops, designed for those that can ride a bike but their fitness levels arent that high, and for children.
Q: I am not a confident rider, I have only just learnt to ride bike, can I do this tour?
A: You need to be able to ride a bicycle on gravel, rocks, pot hills and down hills, if you believe you cannot do that then it is best you do our 1/2 day canoe only tour, otherwise start practising in those conditions before you come to Bali, our tour is slow so you can ride very slow, you can even get off and walk your bike if you like, you just need to ensure you feel confident.
Q: I have a bad back and your riding conditions seem harsh, can I do this ride?
A: Both owners suffer from bad backs so all our bikes are dual suspension mountain bikes, that means that the seat and handle bars both move up and down when you go over bumps so no hard jarring on your back or joints.
CANOEING
Q: I can't swim, can I still do one of your tours?
A: You do not need to know how to swim, not only are you provided with a life-jacket, the inflatable canoes have a no tip system so the boat cannot tip over.
Q: I have never canoed before, can I do one of your tours?
A: Yes, you will be given detailed instructions on canoeing and you can always have a guide accompany you if you are not confident. In July/August/September conditions are harder so some experience would be preferred in those months, or get in early and book a guide to accompany you.
BOOKING
Q: Can I email you my reservation?
A: No, bookings are done via our online booking system, this means we have all the information we require for your pick up and our Calenday of Dates & Availability page is updated automatically so there are no double bookings. Unless the deposit is paid we do not receive the booking details.
Q: Can I book the night before a tour?
A: in theory, yes, we love to fill up a tour, however we require a deposit so you will need to have a paypal account and also book before 7pm.
Q: Why do I need to pay a deposit?
A: Our group sizes are very small so if you cancel then others may have missed out that wanted your dates and we miss out too.
Q: What if I need to cancel but can do it another date?
A: Great, give us 48 hours notice and we will happily transfer your deposit to another date (If available space), with more than 48 hours notice we will transfer to a date in the next 12 months.
Q: The date I want says NO TOURS in the Dates & Availability Page, this is the only date I can do, can you change the dates for me?
A: It means that there is no tour being conducted that day. If it is the quiet season we can sometimes change, so contact us, in the months of June-Sept this is not possible as we are usually full on every day and a No Tour day most likely means no permission for guests to go on the Lake.
Q; I want to book for next year but your calendar doesn't go that far, what can I do?
A: You will need to wait, as our tour is conducted in a traditional village, ceremonies take precedent so we must check with village elders prior to advertising dates; and they prefer us to only advertise 3 months in advance.
Q: I would like to book, the only problem is that I do not know where I will be located, can I sill book?
A: Yes, as long as you know the area you can still book as we need to advise all guests of their pick up times, and these depend on where all guests are located. If you wish to secure a spot in the peak season but don't know which location you are staying in, you may still book however your location must be turn out to be one of the pick-up areas.
Q: I don't have a paypal account, how do I pay?
A: you don't need an account, and you don't need to open one, you can choose to a one time payment of the deposit by credit card No paypal account
WEATHER
Q: What is the weather like at Lake Batur?
A: Always a least 50% less humidity than South Bali. Wet Season is December to mid May
Q: What is the weather like in the wet season?
A: 90% of the time it rains from 2pm onwards (while we are having lunch on the day tour, while in the car on 1/2 day tours)
Q: I want to do a half day tour in February, what is the likelihood of there being rain?
A: In 2011 in February we had rain while canoeing 3 times.
Q: I want to do a 1 day tour in January, what is the likelihood of getting wet?
A: In 2010 in January we had heavy rain at the end of the bike ride 4 times.
Q: In the raining season will I need a rain jacket?
A: To ensure you do not get wet, if you have a good quality one then bring it, otherwise C.Bali can sometimes supply a few basic rain jackets.
Q: If raining, will the tour be cancelled?
A: No, we will not cancel, otherwise you may never get another chance. We may however not cycle and take the tour on foot (driven on longer distances), so a rain jacket is a MUST. |
